This is WSET's foundation course in wine. This course will suit students starting out in the hospitality or wine retail industry, or wine lovers who want to start with a single day course to see how the WSET structure works.
What you'll learn:
- key stages of grapegrowing and winemaking
- the different types and styles of wines
- classic grape varieties and named European wines
- an introduction to the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting
- key principles of storage and service of wine
- an exploration of wine and food interaction
The course consists of 5 hours of interactive lectures and tutored tasting of 8 wines. At the end of the day, students will sit a multiple choice, closed book examination. Successful students will receive a WSET Award certificate and lapel pin.
The Level 1 course requires little to no preparation, all content will be covered in class (although you'll receive your study materials ahead of time if you like to read ahead).
