Duration: 3 full days (9am-4.30pm each day)
The Level 2 Award in Wines is WSET's most popular wine course. The course suits motivated beginners as well as intermediate learners seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained from the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.
This is also an excellent formal qualification for those who are working in wine retail, hospitality and trade, as well as being an essential prerequisite for those seeking to study the Level 3 Award in Wines.
You'll learn about the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown and the styles of wine they produce.
Through an engaging combination of tasting and theory, you'll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence. And - you'll learn to understand and interpret those confusing European wine labels!
The guided tastings of 40-43 wines across the three days are a highlight of this course, bringing the theory to life.
The course concludes with a 1 hour, closed-book external examination of 50 multiple choice questions.
This course does require some private study. We recommend that students allow around 12 hours of personal study of the course material to be completed prior to and between classroom sessions.
